TribeHR was designed around the goal of creating a tool that would make human resources more manageable for small businesses. The application was founded by Jesse Rodgers, Joseph Fung and Stephen Heron in Waterloo, Canada. TribeHR was developed in 2009 and launched in public beta in March of 2010.
TribeHR is the full package in one convenient application. Users can manage many of the most important tasks assigned to human resources departments. This makes it a very appealing option for small businesses, which may not have the resources to hire multiple people to handle these tasks. TribeHR can help users oversee vacation time, job openings, employee development and organizational tasks that can save company’s time and money.
TribeHR has a very welcoming appearance that uses dark brown and vibrant green. The white background keeps the interface neat and clean along with bold headers and subtle design elements such as narrow underline bars. User can also upload images to go with employee records. All information is presented in neat, organized columns and rows.
A new user can create a TribeHR account by clicking the green and white “Get Started in Seconds” bar found along the left hand side of the homepage (inside the dark brown box). Users can also click the narrow green “Sign Up” link in the upper, right hand corner. The following page asks the user to click the button that corresponds with their preferred membership plan. After doing so, the user is asked to provide a preferred TribeHR URL, company name, first and last name, email address, phone number, username and password. The bottom portion of the form asks the user for their billing information.
TribeHR offers users five membership options to choose from. The first is the Short plan which costs just under $20 per month and includes up to 15 users, 200 MBs of storage space and three open job ads. The Tall plan costs around $50 per month and includes up to 25 users, 1 GB of storage space and 10 open job ads.
